Our Studio

We're tucked away on Rua da Bempostinha, in the heart of Arroios, one of Lisbon's most lived-in, creative, and genuinely local neighbourhoods.
A five-minute walk from the Anjos metro, down a quiet street lined with tiled facades and corner cafés that have been there forever.

This is not the Lisbon of crowded viewpoints and souvenir shops. This is the Lisbon that locals actually love, diverse, unhurried, and full of character.

We chose this spot on purpose. Because Tile Flies was always meant to feel like a discovery, not a destination. A place you stumble upon, stay longer than expected, and leave carrying something you made with your own hands.

No experience needed. Just curiosity, and maybe a coffee on the way.

The workshop

Tile flies workshop invites you to join that quiet tradition, 90 minutes of slow company, good light, and the simple pleasure of making something with your own hands.

No experience needed. no perfection required.

Your finished tile, the same day

No waiting, no shipping. Your tile is painted and sealed during the session, so you carry your finished azulejo home with you the moment you leave. A real piece of Lisbon, made by your own hand, ready to hang or display straight away.

What to expect when you join us

A small group, never more than 6 chairs at the table.

Soft drinks and a warm pastel de nata, because painting is better with something sweet in reach. A tile that is yours from the first brushstroke, signed in your own hand, finished and ready to display.
Most of all, an afternoon to slow down, to create, and to take home a small piece of Lisbon made by you.

How the afternoon flows

Over 90 minutes, we move together through the rhythm of the craft.

We begin with a welcome and the short story of the tile, where azulejos came from, and why they have stayed. then we walk through the materials and help you choose your design, either from a pre-drawn outline or freehand from a pattern you love.

We mix your colours together, light to dark, drop by drop, testing on the side before the tile is touched. then comes the heart of the session: painting. outline first, then fill, thin even layers, the room quiet, your hand finding its own pace

You will never be alone with a brush. we are right there, moving around the table, naming what is working, offering a tip when you need one.

At the end, you sign and date the back of your tile, a small ritual that makes it truly yours.
